As president of Polymics, I once again was given the honor of being invited to be a speaker at a materials conference. I was excited to learn that this conference was going to be held in China.

It was a good trip and I got to meet some interesting people who are also pioneering the limits of engineering plastics.

One such man is doing research on ways to make PEEK not only bio-degradable but child safe. This could potentially turn into a very lucrative market nitch: baby toys that are truely indestructable.

He went on to explain that these chew rings and building blocks were not just dish-washer safe, but could be sterilized at 600 F if the mother so chose. Not only that, but the potential for these blocks to be passed on from generation to generation is huge. Imagine, a rattle or chew toy that had been held by the great minds of yester-year. Your many times great grandfather that helped build the elevator to the moon chewed on a ring that the next genius is able to play with care-free.

We exchanged business cards. I hope to be in touch with him about applications of PEEK in the world of cribs.

An intern in the Houston sales division has made it her personal project this summer before she returns back to Texas A&M for school.

Stay tuned for the official-switch over, but I have gotten to preview the prototype and it is going to be more informative, easier to navigate, and a lot better overall.
